DOT trailer inspection in Broward County

We perform the federal annual inspection at your yard, correct what fails in the same visit, and leave the decal and the report with the unit. No trailer leaves the rotation, and nothing gets signed off that we did not actually inspect.

What does a DOT trailer inspection cost?

A DOT annual is a fixed piece of work, and the inspection itself does not vary much. What varies is what we find and whether you want it fixed on the same visit. Batched annuals at your yard cost less per unit than one trailer at a time.

How many trailersBatching is the biggest lever there is. One visit across a yard beats one visit per trailer.
What the inspection findsThe inspection is the inspection. Repairs are quoted separately and only with your approval.
Fix now or schedule itSame-visit repairs save a second call-out. Some parts have to be ordered.
Brakes and strokeThe most common failure item, and the one most likely to turn an annual into a repair.
Where the trailers sitOne yard is straightforward. Units spread across three locations is three visits.
Records and paperworkFiling inspection records back into your fleet system, if you need that.
Time of dayAnnuals are business-hours work. Out of hours is possible and costs more.

We quote before we start and we do not begin work you have not approved. We do not publish ranges here, because the same job varies too much by trailer, access and hour — call and we will give you a number for your unit.

How often does a trailer need a DOT inspection?

Every commercial trailer needs a periodic inspection at least once every twelve months under the federal rules, and the record has to be retained and available. The decal on the trailer shows the month and year it was done. Miss it and the unit is out of compliance whether or not anything is broken.

What gets inspected

  • Brake system, lining thickness, adjustment, air loss rate
  • Wheels, rims, tires, hubs and fasteners
  • Suspension, springs, hangers, air bags
  • Frame, cross members, upper coupler and kingpin
  • Lighting, reflectors, conspicuity tape, wiring
  • Landing gear, doors, and load securement hardware

What fails most

  • Brakes out of adjustment
  • Linings worn past the limit
  • Audible air leaks
  • Inoperative lamps and bad grounds
  • Tires below tread depth or with exposed cord — we write these up, a tire service replaces them
  • Cracked welds and loose fasteners on the coupler

What you get

  • The inspection report, per unit
  • The decal fitted to the trailer
  • Photos of anything written up
  • A repair quote before work starts
  • Records in a format an auditor accepts

My trailer got an out-of-service sticker. Now what?

It cannot move until the defect is corrected. Send us a photo of the inspection report and we will tell you on the phone whether it is a same-visit repair — most brake, light and air write-ups are.

We repair it where it sits, document the correction with photos and a parts list, and give you paperwork you can put straight into the file. Brake write-ups are the most common: brake pricing here, air leak pricing here.

Can you inspect a whole fleet in one day?

Yes. Batch inspections at your yard are how most Broward fleets stay current without losing units to a shop queue: we work the row, write each unit up, and you approve the repairs in the order that matters. Fleets on a scheduled PM program almost never fail an annual, because the failures are found at the quarterly check instead.
